Broadcast Journalism

My name is Judayah Murray and I am an Emmy-nominated lifestyle host, content producer and reporter from New York. I’m great at coming up with unique segments, finding any community’s unsung heroes and underdogs, designing and animating graphics and executing ideas — whether they’re my own, or from someone else’s vision. I see myself being the host of my very own talk-show one day, but my daily goal is to be the type of woman little girls can look up to.

I’m honored to share a little piece of my culture with you. Join me On A Positive Note as we learn about the mover, shakers, policy changers and way-makers in the Black community across the New York tristate.

Last year, less than 15% of published children’s books featured a black character, which is actually an increase from previous years; 5% in 2015 and 6% in 2016. Despite this growth, black authors in this category are still having great difficulty getting published (3% in 2017). As a result, some have alternatively turned to self-publishing.
